Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook wants to join Emmerdale after failing to seal a return to the BBC soap.
As soap fans will likely know, Danniella, 48, has played Sam Mitchell across a number of periods in EastEnders. The character has also been played by Kim Medcalf.
The latter will soon be returning to the BBC soap to reprise the role. Something which greatly disappointed Danniella when it was announced.

During an interview with Mark Dolan on GB News, Danniella has become more philosophical and has her eyes on a move to another soap. Danniella said: “I’m looking to the future. EastEnders was great, I grew up in front of the nation. But it’s in the past. I am so RIP Sam Mitchell.
“I would love to do Emmerdale or Corrie. I would also love to get back into stage acting where it all started for me. I will be 50 next year and I’d love to one day play Momma in Chicago.”
We’ve previously reported on Danniella’s keenness to join Emmerdale. Last year, she said: “I love EastEnders, I love Sam, but my dream is Emmerdale.
“I’d love to be in Emmerdale, I’m a country girl. You can see where I live – I ride horses. One of my school friends Kevin Mathurin, is now in Emmerdale, playing the vicar.”
Danniella might be joining another former EastEnder in Emmerdale. Reports are suggesting actor Toby-Alexander Smith will soon join the ITV soap.
Toby-Alexander Smith is real-life partner of Emmerdale’s Amy Walsh. It is rumoured he could earn up to £500,000 a year - should be join Emmerdale.
