A former Emmerdale and Coronation Street star has said he has been with without ‘a pot to p**s in’ after he was axed from both soaps.
Reece Dinsdale played Weatherfield villain Joe McIntyre in Coronation Street in 2008, before taking on the role of Vinny Dingle’s abusive father Paul Ashdale on Emmerdale from 2020.
The actor has also held roles in shows including Waterloo Road and Life on Mars, as well as returning to the ITV soaps in a directing capacity.
However, Reece has now told fans he does not boast a ‘lavish lifestyle’ and has been left low on funds after departing both the cobbles and the Dales.
Reece recently splashed out on a motorhome in order to travel around the country and took to Twitter to share the news.
The soap star uploaded a snap of the vehicle overlooking a stunning lake and mountains as he explained: “We don’t live a lavish lifestyle… far from it.
“Today I invested all my savings into my dream machine. Not got a pot left to p**s in… but the dreams are now endless!”
The star was quickly supported by fans in the comments section, as one praised: “Amazing… enjoy every minute!”
“Wow, that’s amazing!” someone else told Reece, as a third fan echoed: “Worth every penny fella!”
The former soap star recently returned to the village of Emmerdale as a director for several hour-long specials, confessing he is ‘very proud’ of his work.
The star tweeted: “I’m off to try to get some kip. Start shooting a new block of Emmerdale early tomorrow.
“No matter how many times you do it, you’re always a little nervous & apprehensive for your first day. I guess it’s a good thing. The day I don’t feel that… will be the day I give it up.”
He later added: “For those of you who enjoy your Emmerdale, you might be interested to hear that the two one hour episodes that I recently directed will be shown on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. I’m very proud of them. Hope you enjoy!”
Emmerdale is one of the soaps facing a schedule shake-up this week to make way for the coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The controversial Qatar football tournament is airing on both the BBC and ITV as the world’s teams for head to head in the group stages.
While football fans will be on tenterhooks as the matches unfold this week, the prospect is less exciting for soap fans, who are set to see their favourite shows move times and channels.
While Emmerdale typically airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, the Dales soap will now move to the earlier time of 7pm on ITV on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
