A former constable is facing criminal charges for allegedly sharing confidential information from a police reporting system.

Sandra Anthea Audrey Paul, 43, is accused of perverting justice over the alleged conduct in June 2022 when she was employed by Tasmania Police.

She allegedly provided confidential information to a man from the force's offence reporting system relating to an aggravated burglary in West Hobart on June 4, 2021.

According to court documents, the information related "specifically that a witness or witnesses had spoken to the police and identified the persons responsible".

Paul is also accused of unauthorised access to a computer, possessing cocaine and fraud.

Her employment with Tasmania Police was terminated in August after an internal investigation by professional standards, the organisation said in a statement.

Tasmania Police said Paul, who was charged in January, was off duty at the time of the alleged offences.

The matter was briefly mentioned in Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday and adjourned until May.

Paul did not enter a plea to any of the charges and her bail was continued.
