Former Indianapolis Colts defensive end Yannick Ngakoue agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears on Thursday night.
Ngakoue, who led the Colts with 9.5 sacks in 2022, was on the market for the entire offseason. With teams needing pass-rush help, the 28-year-old finally found a new home.
Ngakoue’s one-year deal is reportedly worth up to $10.5 million.
The #Bears are signing former #Colts star pass-rusher Yannick Ngakoue to a 1-year, $10.5M deal, sources say, giving them a weapon off the edge they’ve been seeking. Ngakoue has never played for Matt Eberflus, but he’s played in his system before. It should be seamless. pic.twitter.com/kbj8qAUnRx

Ngakoue was acquired by the Colts during the 2022 offseason in the trade that sent cornerback Rock Ya-Sin to the Las Vegas Raiders. Though he led the team with 9.5 sacks, his 11% pass-rush win rate (PFF) ranked 50th among qualified edge rushers.
The Colts opted not to re-sign the veteran pass rusher, who has never recorded fewer than 8.0 sacks in a single season. Instead, they opted to sign free-agent Samson Ebukam to a cheaper, three-year deal.
