A retired coal worker has taken a DNA test he claims will prove he is descended from Malaysian royalty.
Keith Williams, 71, believes he is the illegitimate first-born son of the 33rd Sultan of Perak.
Keith, from Ammanford, South Wales, said he found the link too late to meet Idris Iskandar Al-Mutawakkil Alallahi Shah, who died in 1984.
He added: “It’s time to prove this once and for all.”
Keith said his mum, Elizabeth Rosa, was 17 and a trainee nurse in Carshalton, Surrey, when she met his father, who was studying in the UK. Elizabeth was forced to give Keith up for adoption.
The prince served as the 33rd Sultan of Perak from 1963, while Keith spent much of his adult life working in his adoptive father’s coal business in South Wales.
Five years ago, he made contact with his birth mother and later flew out to meet his “family” in Malaysia, but claims he was given the cold shoulder.
The Malaysian royals are worth millions of pounds.

Keith insisted: “I just want to be accepted. I don’t care about the title or anything like that.
He said: “I know the truth, but I just want closure on this in a way, I want that rubber-stamp to say I am what I know I am.
“Whatever the family in Perak think of this he is my father to me and as I see it I have siblings out there who have a sibling in me and it would be nice get round the table and just get to know them.
“We've all got the same father I just cannot understand why they would deny wanting to meet me and welcome me into the fold.
“I know my father knew of me, I am convinced of that.
“I know it's true but now DNA tests have come on so much I will be able to prove with absolute certainly for anyone who doubts me.
“I feel like I am running out of time now as I get older and all I want is answers and all I want is to get to know the family I have always wanted to know more about.”
Keith claims his mum, Elizabeth Rosa, was 17 and a trainee nurse at a children’s hospital in Carshalton, Surrey, when she met his royal father while he was studying in the UK.
They had a whirlwind affair and she became pregnant.
Elizabeth was forced to go home to Swansea and give up Keith for adoption, and the prince was sent back to Malaysia.
After his return, he served as the state’s 33rd Sultan of Perak from 1963 until his death.
Malaysia has nine Sultanates and the families live opulent lifestyles in palaces.
The Sultan of Perak is one of the oldest hereditary seats and dates from 1528.
Keith, a dad-of-three who is grandad to six daughters and one and great granddaughter-of-one, is at pains to point out the royals have nothing to be worried about.
He said: “This is about a man wanting answers, I want them to know they have nothing to fear from me, I just want to be accepted.
“It saddens me so much to think they fear my intentions, I just want to know my family and be accepted by them I don't care about the title or the politics or anything like that.”
