Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala has been backed to become one of the best players in world football - four years since he was released from the Chelsea academy.
Musiala, 20, scored 16 times in 47 appearances during the 2022/23 campaign as Bayern lifted the Bundesliga title for the 11th successive year. He joined the German side in 2019 after eight years at Stamford Bridge, where he progressed through the youth ranks.
Since his move to the Allianz Arena, Musiala has gone from strength to strength and is a firm name in the Germany senior squad, as well as a key figure for Thomas Tuchel's men. He finished as Bayern's second top scorer in the Bundesliga with 12 and scored the winning goal to secure the title on the final day.
Ex-Netherlands frontman Patrick Kluivert is a huge fan of Musiala and admitted he could go on to become one of the top players in Europe alongside Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. Musiala turned 20 in February and certainly has a huge future in the game.
Kluivert said on behalf of JohnnyBet : "For me, Musiala is a player that I really like to watch. The way he manages to emerge with the ball in difficult situations is just fantastic. He will definitely be a player to watch out for next season as I’m sure he will continue to play like this.
"At the moment Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior are really dictating European football and I’m sure one of them will win the Ballon d’Or. Those three players are going to be pioneers of the next generation, but I can see Musiala joining them soon."
Meanwhile, Musiala had the opportunity to stay and represent England, having played for a number of the Three Lions youth set ups in the past. Gareth Southgate claimed last year that they tried to keep him before Musiala decided to play for the country of his birth.
"He’s an outstanding player, we had him and Jude [Bellingham] playing for our Under-16s," Southgate said after England’s draw with Germany at Wembley last September. "He knows how much we liked him, he knows we wanted to keep him.
"But he’s training every day at Bayern Munich with eight players from the German national squad, they had the opportunity to influence him. That’s a shame but he’s a very special talent. He’s got that lovely ability to glide past people, he’s a very exciting player."
"He showed in many situations what characterises him. We need that," Germany boss Hansi Flick added. "With every dribble, he creates a different game situation and makes the opponent open, which creates spaces that you can go into. That’s just what sets Jamal apart."
