Ex-Chelsea ace Samuel Eto'o attacks man outside World Cup stadium as video footage emerges

Former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o has been filmed seemingly attacking a person outside World Cup venue Stadium 974 following a match there on Monday evening. Footage of the incident was captured after the round of 16 game between Brazil and South Korea, where the former earned passage to the quarter-finals.

The video of the attack was shared on social media, though it is currently unknown as to how the incident came about, with Eto'o posing for pictures just moments before. The 41-year-old is no stranger to Qatar, having played his final few games there before retiring and becoming the president of the Cameroon Football Federation as well as global legacy ambassador for FIFA in Qatar.

However, footage shared by outlet La Opinon has shown the former Barcelona forward reacting angrily to something outside one of the stadiums. While seemingly departing the arena, Eto'o posed for pictures with supporters before walking away.

Footage then cut to him shouting and pacing towards a person holding a camera nearby, with that person then backing off from him. Several people got in the way of the Cameroonian, but that wasn't enough to stop him breaking beyond them to try and attack the individual once more.

Eto'o appeared to knee the person in the head while they were down before they then had their camera seemingly confiscated from them.

The full details of what provoked the incident are still to be discovered, although there will likely be pressure on FIFA to investigate the situation.
