Ex-Celtic star Fraser Forster set for Tottenham chance with Hugo Lloris out for nearly two months

Former Celtic No1 Fraser Forster looks set for his big chance at Tottenham after skipper and No1 Hugo Lloris was ruled out for six to eight weeks.

The France captain, 36, sustained a knee injury in the 1-0 English Premier League win over Manchester City at the weekend as Antonio Conte's men kept their hopes of finishing in the top four alive and kicking with a big win thanks to Harry Kane's winner.

The London-based club have a hectic fixture schedule over that period that Lloris is said to be out for meaning the former Hoops and Southampton stopper could stake his claim for the No1 jersey with as many as ten games including the Champions League last 16 double-header with Serie A outfit AC Milan and the FA Cup clash at English Championship high-flyers Sheffield United.

The 34-year-old has featured in just four games this season. Two of those have come in the FA Cup against Portsmouth and Preston, keeping two clean sheets, and in the EFL Cup loss to Nottingham Forest and EPL draw with Brentford on Boxing Day.

Forster enjoyed huge success in Scotland with Celtic winning numerous league titles and domestic cups while he also put in huge performances at the top level for the Parkhead side. That form earned him his return south of the border before he later returned on loan.

He's got six England caps to his name and will hope a run of games could force him into contention with Gareth Southgate's squad. His current deal expires next summer.

Lloris has played in 21 English Premier League matches this term and all six Champions League group games. He's kept 9 clean sheets in total with seven coming in the top flight.
