Footie star Efe Ambrose and his two young daughters are backing a campaign to end Female Genital Mutilation.
A video of the former Celtic player speaking out against the horrific procedure has been broadcast during the Africa Cup of Nations live football matches and in the run-up to the final in Cameroon on February 6.
St Johnstone defender Ambrose, 33, appears in the short clip with his girls Emmanuella and Angela, where he says: "My daughter is Born Perfect – say no to FGM".
He is one of a number of high-profile Nigerian players supporting the Global Media Campaign’s #BornPerfect drive.
For the first time, footballers are publicly drawing on the power of the sport to grab the attention of young fans to the ongoing problem of FGM.
Ambrose said: said: "My daughters and I really appreciate this opportunity to support the movement against FGM and we urge others to do the same".
The Global Media Campaign to End FGM was co-founded by journalist Maggie O'Kane who believes FGM can be stamped out by activists, religious leaders and journalists pulling together.
