Ex-Celtic manager Neil Lennon arrives in Romania as he nears Rapid Bucharest job

Neil Lennon has been spotted arriving at an airport in Romania ahead of being named Rapid Bucharest manager.

The former Celtic manager is expected to be appointed by the top-flight Romanian club in a shock return to management.

Lennon, 52, had been working as a pundit after being sacked by Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia in October last year.

The ex-Hibs and Bolton manager had been vocal over his ambition to return to management and suggested he could seek a foreign opportunity.

Now, it appears certain he will be named as the manager of Rapid Bucharest after being filmed in Romania and breaking his silence on the job.

Publication Sport.Ro captured the moment Lennon left the airport in the Romanian capital and admitted he was "very happy and very privileged" to take on the job.

In the short clip - with Lennon leaving the airport before getting into a car - the Northern Irishman was asked how he was feeling ahead of the new gig. He responded: "Hello. Very good.

"Very happy, very privileged. Thank you guys."

Lennon could be heard discussing Rapid's season to date with another man in the clip before being whisked away in a car.

It appears Lennon was headed to Rapid's match against league leaders FCSB as an official announcement nears.

Rapid ran out 2-0 winners in the league play-off tie with the club sitting sixth in the championship table.

However, reports have suggested Lennon did not attend the fixture despite his close vicinity to the match.
