Ange Postecoglou has joked that his exes are exes for a reason.
The Tottenham boss this afternoon quipped that it is unlikely he would ever return to a former club, such as Celtic.
However, the Australian refused to rule out changing that outlook.
The 58-year-old has been a massive hit since swapping the Premiership for the Premier League in June. He led Celtic to a domestic treble last season before Spurs headhunted him at the end of the campaign.
He's guided Spurs to the summit of the Premier League after ten games. The North London club has 26 points and sits above Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool who trail by two and three points respectively.
The next challenge for Postecoglou is Chelsea this weekend. Former Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino took over the reins at Stamford Bridge during the summer too.
During today's pre-match press conference, Postecoglou was asked what it would be like to face Spurs' 'ex'. And it certainly caught the Aussie off guard.
He said: "No, knowing my nature it's unlikely. Once they're exes, they're exes mate! You've messed with my head now.
"I feel like whenever I've left, I've left on the back of success and I like to leave that memory as it is. I don't think there's any real purpose... I wouldn't see myself going back anywhere I've been but who knows?"
He added: "Jeez that is a lot to take in. Thankfully those sort of days are well past me. I think your reference is to Mauricio right? Look, it is undoubted that he had an unbelievable impact on this football club.
"All of us in our roles, that is our ultimate goal and ambition that whatever doors we go through, we make an impact and he has had an undeniable impact on this football club in his time here.
"He almost took the club to the ultimate summit of the Champions League, got close to the league, so his work is unquestioned."
