Former Cambuslang Rangers striker John Gemmell has been given another crack at senior football at 37, after signing a short-term deal at Dumbarton.
Veteran striker Gemmell, who turns 38 next month, will add valuable experience to the Sons, and it's believed he has signed until the end of this season.
Gemmell, who has played for clubs including Queen's Park, Albion Rovers (three times) and Clyde.
Last season he scored 17 times as Cambuslang Rangers won the West of Scotland League Conference B title, despite spending much of it defence.
Gemmell has returned to Dumbarton 15 years after leaving the club in 2007, having spent three years there.
The striker appeared as a trialist in Saturday's 4-0 home win over Annan Athletic, assisting one of the goals.
Boss Stevie Farrell told Dumbarton's website: "John is a hugely experienced striker at this level and has trained with us in the last few weeks.
"We have seen how hard he has worked to get another chance at senior level, and we feel he has a lot to give us this season."
