A former boxer whose wedding day erupted into violence has been cleared of assaulting his wife in a pub after she said she had no memory of the incident.
Eamonn Goodbrand, 33, was alleged to have repeatedly pushed wife Claire on the body in the Horseshoe Bar in Uddingston.
Prosecutors claimed he caused her to fall backwards down a set of stairs at the busy venue.
Goodbrand went on trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court and denied assaulting his wife in November last year.
Asda worker Claire, who is also a full-time student, told the court the couple had been out with friends in Glasgow before heading to the bar on their way home.
She said there were people in the pub who did not get on with either Eamonn or her, but insisted she could not remember much of the night.
Claire, 27, added: "There was a bit of conflict because my friend didn't get on with Eamonn and they weren't really talking to him which made him feel like he wasn't involved.
"Me and Eamonn were out drinking and had a lot to drink but nothing happened that I can remember."
After hearing evidence for less than five minutes, depute fiscal Scott O'Connor announced he was no longer seeking a conviction.
He was found not guilty by Sheriff Moira MacKenzie.
The couple made headlines after their wedding day in June 2019 ended in a mass brawl.
Claire grabbed her mother Cherry-Ann Lindsay, 47, by the hair and also punched, choked and kicked her before cracking her over the head with her wedding heels.
Her new husband Eamonn and his brother Kieran, the best man, both then weighed in, viciously assaulting wedding guest David Boyd.
They admitted pushing their thumbs into Boyd's eyes, biting him on the head and body and repeatedly seizing him by the neck and restricting his breathing, all to his severe injury.
The best man then attacked another guest, injuring him as well.
All three were arrested from The Vu wedding venue near Bathgate and later appeared from custody.
Last month at Livingston Sheriff Court, Claire admitted assault to injury while Eamonn and Kieran pled guilty to repeatedly punching and kicking Boyd on the head and body while acting together.
They will return to court later this month to be sentenced.
Claire's mum later revealed she has cut her daughter out of her will as a result of vicious assault.
The mum-of-four, who feared she was going to die during the attack, has also been to court to evict her daughter and Eamonn from a home she had rented to them.
