Ex Blackhawks Captain Jonathan Toews Provides Health Update

Former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, 36, recently provided a health update.  Toews, the third overall pick by the Blackhawks in the 2006 NHL draft, has not played since April 2023.

Toews was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome and has dealt with issues related to long COVID for five years.  He acquired COVID-19 when the virus became widespread and before a vaccine was available to mitigate it.

What Jonathan Toews Has Been Up To

Toews shared on Instagram that he recently spent five weeks in India receiving an “Ayurvedic detox called a Panchakarma.”

He goes on to say that things are “trending” while explaining what Ayurvedic means.  Toews wrote: “Ayurveda translates to ‘Knowledge of Life’ and has been the healing science of India for over 5,000 years.”

Part of his healing process has included cleansing and releasing toxins.

Jonathan Toews Career

Though his playing career has been interrupted by his extensive health issues, Toews accomplished practically everything possible in the NHL and for Team Canada.  He also has not officially retired from the NHL causing some fans to wonder if he could get well enough to return to play.

He is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, winner of the Con Smythe Trophy, Frank J. Selke Trophy, and Mark Messier Leadership Award.

Jonathan Toews is an NHL and Winter Olympics All-Star.  He is a two-time and back-to-back Olympic gold medalist from the 2010 and 2014 Olympic games.
