Former Ajax manager Aad de Mos has praised Arne Slot for what he describes as a 'wise decision' to pledge his loyalty to Feyenoord amid links with Leeds United. Slot was previously the bookmakers' favourite to replace Jesse Marsch at Elland Road, before he publicly announced his desire to stay in his native Netherlands.
The Dutchman has propelled Feyenoord to the Eredivisie summit after defeating fellow title contenders AZ Alkmaar 2-1 on Saturday. Feyenoord are also in contention for a potential treble having reaching the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League and the KNVB Cup quarter-final.
Leeds, meanwhile, are still yet to appoint Marsch's successor, after also receiving knockbacks in their attempts to tempt Carlos Corberan, Andoni Iraola, and Philippe Clement. Alfred Schreuder was linked with the managerial post at Leeds, but the board decided to pursue other options despite the ex-Ajax boss travelling to the UK for discussions.

De Mos believes staying at Feyenoord was the right decision and is confident that Slot will have bigger clubs knocking at his door in the future.
“You can do that once, as he did at AZ. Giving his signature to Feyenoord in the middle of the season, he was never thanked for that,” he said, as quoted by Feyenoord Pings.
“He doesn’t have to do that. I think he will soon have the clubs to choose from. He is busy on three fronts, he can still become national champion, he can win the KNVB Cup, he can win the Europa League, so it is very wise that he doesn’t [leave]."
