Ex-Aberdeen star Shay Logan charged after street brawl outside chippy

Former Aberdeen defender Shay Logan has been fined after he was involved in a fight with another man outside an Aberdeen chippy.

The footballer was one of two men who were charged by police over the scrap on Chapel Street in the early hours of June 11.

Footage of the scuffle, first reported by the Record last week, went viral in the hours after it unfolded early on the Saturday morning.

In the video the two men are seen fighting with each other in the street.

Logan is seen dropping to one knee before recovering to gain the upper hand over his rival.

Throughout the video his name is heard being shouted several times by the person thought to be recording the incident.

Another onlooker is heard to utter a racial slur at the footballer.

Someone steps in to break the pair up after Logan began raining punches down on the other man.

Logan played for Aberdeen FC between 2014 and 2021 before the club decided not to renew his contract, and has also played for Manchester City and Brentford.

He now plays as a defender for Scottish Championship side Cove Rangers.

A Police Scotland statement issued on Friday read: "Following enquiries into a video circulating on social media which showed a disturbance on Chapel Street in Aberdeen in the early hours of Saturday, 11 June, 2022, two men, aged 23 and 34, have been charged in connection with the incident and issued with fixed penalty notices."
