Why are Ryan Tubridy and Noel Kelly going before the committee?

In June, it was revealed that Ryan Tubridy had received a whopping €345,000 in payments which had not been declared to the public in a scandal that has rocked RTÉ.

Both Tubridy and Kelly were reportedly asked to appear before the two Oireachtas committees investigating the secret payments scandal.

Last week, Tubridy offered to come before the committees himself in a letter that confirmed he and his agent Noel Kelly will be available next week.

In his letter through a solicitors’ firm, the committees have been told: “Mr Kelly and Mr Tubridy wish to fully cooperate and assist with your Committee in its examination of these issues and clarify a number of matters that have arisen.”

Tubridy and Kelly’s appearance in front of the PAC comes following a slew of RTÉ executives appearing in Leinster House again for a grilling on the secret payments scandal.
