Everything you need to know ahead of Ed Sheeran in the North East

Thinking Out Loud star Ed Sheeran is currently on his + - = ÷ x European tour. The musician is set to perform at Sunderland's Stadium Of Light next Thursday and Friday June 3 and 4.

It is the first time since 2018 that the pop star has performed around the UK when he played three shows at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena. Ed has also performed at the iconic Saint James' Park on previous tours.

This year's star comes following the release of his latest album called = last year. The name of the tour references all of the songwriter's albums so far.

When is Ed playing in Sunderland?

Ed Sheeran is set to perform two shows at the Stadium Of Light on Friday June 3 and Saturday June 4. It is important to remember that the two shows fall within the four day weekend as the nation celebrates the Queen's jubilee.

What are the set times?

According to the ticket website Ticketmaster the turnstiles at the ground will open to fans at 5pm on both nights. Going off previous nights of the tour Ed's support act will take to the stage at 6pm.

Ed will then follow to perform his set at around 8pm. The whole gig is expected to reach its conclusion just before 10.30pm.

Who is the support act?

In previous years Ed has had some big names supporting him most notably Anne-Marie back in 2018. This year is no different as YouTube sensation Maisie Peters is supporting the star across his UK tour dates.

Are tickets still available?

Ed was set to play a third night at the home of Sunderland football club however that was cancelled. As a result tickets for that gig have been spread across the Friday and Saturday shows.

That means not many tickets remain for the shows but some are still available at the time of writing. If you fancy getting hold of some last minute tickets you can grab some here .

How to get to the Stadium Of Light

The stadium is only a short walk from the centre of Sunderland and it can be accessed by both St Peters and Stadium of Light Metro stations. At the ground there is no parking available however there are plenty of car parks nearby and in the city, check out the list here .
