How does ScotRail's Kids for a Quid scheme work?
Kids for a Quid return tickets allow children to travel on ScotRail services for just £1 with an adult.
According to the train operator, this scheme is "available every day, all year round" and makes "exploring with the family great value for money."
How to get a Kids for a Quid ticket
All that parents need to do is purchase their adult ticket either from the station ticket office, vending machine or online.
They then need to purchase their Kids for a Quid ticket from a member of ScotRail staff with these only being available from a station ticket office or on the train.

What times can Kids for a Quid tickets be used?
Kids for a Quid tickets are valid all year round but can only be used on off-peak services.
This generally means that these tickets are only valid after 9.15am on weekdays and any time at the weekend.

What services can Kids for a Quid tickets be used on?
ScotRail states that these tickets can be used on all of the operator's services.
However, it does state that the following services do not accept this ticket format:
- On CrossCountry services
- On services to and from Lockerbie or Reston, and between Edinburgh and Dunbar
- With LNER Advance single tickets
How old do children have to be for ScotRail's Kids for a Quid?
Up to four children (per adult) aged five to 15 can make the most of the Kids for a Quid scheme.
