Everything you need to know about Pep Guardiola’s wife, Cristina Serra

Pep Guardiola has followed up a successful playing career with an even more remarkable managerial one, with the Spaniard dominating competitions in his homeland as well as Germany and England to become one of the most decorated professionals in the game.

But besides lifting trophies, Guardiola has often been praised for being somewhat of a fashion icon for a number of things he wears on the touchline, and that is all down to the help of his wife, Cristina Serra.

Here is all you need to know about the wife of one of the world’s greatest ever managers, including how they met and how many children they have.

Who is Pep Guardiola’s wife?

Cristina Serra is a Brazilian writer, journalist and Spanish fashionista who was born in Italy in 1973 and is best known for being the wife of Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola. Serra grew up surrounded by fashion due to her family owning a popular clothes store in Spain, which had a big influence on her profession going forward.

"Serra Claret" was a high-end store based in Barcelona which stocked labels such as D Squared and Armani, and Serra worked there from a young age. She was also given the opportunity to model around the same time as a result of working in the store, and has collaborated with numerous fashion houses over the years.

Guardiola and Serra prefer to keep their private life out of the public eye and she has rarely given interviews, but what is known is that she has a big influence on what her husband wears on the touchline, with the 51-year-old often seen sporting a number of brands and styles thanks to her fashion advice.

How long have they been together?

Guardiola met Serra when he was 18-years-old whilst playing for Barcelona. The Spaniard was invited to do some modelling for designer Antonio Miro in Serra’s family store, in which she was working at the time. The couple started out with long distance dating due to the 51-year-old’s career, but they eventually set up a family home in the upper part of Barcelona.

They have lived a long and happy life together, and after 27 years since they first met, they were officially married in May 2014 in a low-key ceremony in Catalonia, which reportedly had just their close family present. The couple then moved to Germany together when Guardiola managed Bayern Munich in 2013, and then again in England when he took over at Man City in 2016.

Guardiola and Serra have been set on living a quiet life together out of the public eye, while the Man City manager has tried his best to keep her off social media. However, Serra was a big supporter of her husband when he was accused of doping during his playing days and was one of many who defended him to the media before all charges were eventually dropped.

How many children do they have?

They currently have three children together, Maria (20), Marius (18), and Valentina (13), who were all born before the couple were married. Maria is the most popular of the three, and as well as being a student in London, she is also a Spanish style icon like her mother, while it was reported last year that she was dating Everton footballer Dele Alli, after the pair had been spotted together a number of times.

In 2017, Serra attended the fateful Ariana Grande concert with Maria and Valentina in Manchester, in which a suicide bomber killed 22 people and injured a further 59. Thankfully, the mother and her daughters were unharmed in the incident and made it out of the venue safely.

In September 2019, Serra and one of her daughters had moved back to Spain whilst Guardiola was still living in England with his two other children. It was revealed that the decision was made so that Serra could look after her business interests, after managing things by commuting back and forth from Manchester in the previous three years.
