Warner Bros. Interactive and IO Interactive unveiled Hitman 2 Wednesday. The game is a follow-up to the rebooted 2016 Hitman, an episodic offering that drew a great deal of praise from gamers and critics alike.
The sequel, however, will ditch the episodic levels and release all the base content at once. Here’s everything we know so far about the game.
Release Date: November 13th
Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC
Developer: IO Interactive
Publisher: Warner Bros Interactive
Launch Trailer:
Story and Setting
The new game follows the series’ long-running protagonist Agent 47, still bald as ever, as he sneaks his way through various levels that take place in various exotic locales from the racetracks of Miami, to lush jungles. As always, players will be able to choose how to carry out each mission.
From the press release: “Featuring entirely new hyper-detailed sandboxes full of living, breathing environments to explore, HITMAN 2 offers players the freedom to plan the ultimate assassination utilizing an assortment of tools, weapons, disguises and a variety of stealth techniques to creatively trigger their own unique chain of events.”
Agent 47 is tracking down the mysterious Shadow Client in an attempt to bring him and his militia down. “However, when 47 learns the hidden truth about his past, nothing will ever be the same.”
Sounds fun to me. So long as I can carefully plot out my assassinations and learn through trial and error, I’m a happy assassin.

Gamers who choose to pre-order the game will gain access to a special new Sniper Assassin mode that lets you play either solo or with a partner to take out various targets. That mode is available now. Here’s the trailer:

Trivia
Unlike the last Hitman game, Hitman 2 is not being published by Japanese game maker Square Enix. IO Interactive bought its independence after the publication of Hitman and managed to keep the rights to the game as well.
Warner Bros. Interactive and IO Interactive will reveal more information about the game during E3 which starts up this coming weekend in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for more details and hopefully some gameplay footage.
