Everything you need to know about £150 disability cost of living payment coming next month

Millions of people claiming certain disability benefits will receive a £150 cost of living payment starting from next month.

The cash will be awarded to people who are in receipt of benefits such as Personal Independence Payment and Attendance Allowance.

Most people will receive the payment between between June 20 and July 4, 2023.

In order to get the £150 payment, you need to have been claiming a qualifying benefit on April 1, 2023.

Your payment might come later if you start claiming benefits at a later date and backdate your claim.

Six million people are expected to receive the £150 disability cost of living payment this year.

Full list of benefits you need to be claiming

You may be entitled to the £150 disability cost of living payment if you claimed any of the following benefits on the qualifying date:

  • Attendance Allowance

  • Constant Attendance Allowance

  • Disability Living Allowance for adults

  • Disability Living Allowance for children

  • Personal Independence Payment

  • Adult Disability Payment (in Scotland)

  • Child Disability Payment (in Scotland)

  • Armed Forces Independence Payment

  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

The money will be paid automatically into your bank account, meaning you won't need to claim it.

The cash is also not taxable and will not affect any benefits or tax credits you get.

What other cost of living payments are due this year?

Households claiming certain means-tested benefits will receive £900, split into three payments, starting from this month.

The benefits you need to be claiming on a certain date to receive the first instalment, worth £301, are:

  • Universal Credit

  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance

  • Income Support

  • Pension Credit

  • Working Tax Credit

  • Child Tax Credit

You need to have been entitled to a payment, or later found to have been entitled, between January 26 and February 25, to receive the money.

For those claiming Universal Credit, this counts as the qualifying assessment period.

Those who receive DWP benefits should have received £301 between April 25 and May 17.

Tax Credits households should have got the money from HMRC between May 2 and May 9.

The next two instalments - worth £300 and £299 - will be paid in autumn 2023 and spring 2024, although no set dates have been confirmed.

The qualifying dates for these following payments have also not yet been announced.

There will also be a £300 pensioner cost of living payment to all eligible households that get a Winter Fuel Payment.

This is expected to be sent out from November, if payments follow the same timeframe as last winter.
