Everything we know about new Crystal Palace kit as club announce new supplier and crest

Crystal Palace have announced a long-term deal with Italian sportswear giants Macron to return as the club’s new kit provider. Macron previously held a partnership with Palace as their kit providers from 2014 to 2018 and are now back in south London to take over from Puma, whose deal with the Eagles ended this year.

Palace supporters have been waiting patiently for the club's new kit reveal, with Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham among those to have already revealed their new home strips for the 2022/23 campaign. The Eagles fans won't have to wait much longer though, with the club expected to reveal all in the coming weeks following the announcement of a new main sponsor, club crest and now manufacturer ahead of its official unveiling.

With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at all the details we know about Palace’s strip for the 2022/23 season.

Manufacturer

Palace have linked back up with Macron to manufacture their new kit as well as all of their travel garments, training wear and accessories. The Italian company recently celebrated its 50th birthday and is currently the third-largest technical brand in football within the UEFA rankings.

Palace’s previous collaboration with Macron produced some memorable strips, including the bright yellow 2014/15 away jersey and the traditional striped 2015/16 home kit that the club wore in the FA Cup Final at Wembley.

Speaking about the deal to work with Macron again, Palace’s commercial director Barry Webster said: “Macron is an ambitious sports brand known for its innovation in materials as well as its style, and having formed an excellent working relationship with them in the past, we are pleased to be collaborating on Crystal Palace kits once again. We look forward to presenting the new strips to supporters in the coming weeks.”

Sponsor

Palace will also have a new sponsor on the front of their shirts next season, with online car marketplace company Cinch taking over from W88 on a multi-year contract.

The deal means Palace won’t have a gambling company front and centre on their kits for the first time in seven years following previous partnerships with Mansion.com (2015-17), ManBetX (2017-20) and W88 (2020-22), with the club’s young fans unable to wear replica kits because of this feature.

But now, thanks to the partnership with Cinch and the UK Government’s anticipated ban on betting sponsors within football, children will get to wear the exact same strip as many of their heroes on the pitch. Cinch’s branding will also be seen across Palace’s training wear and will have a presence at Selhurst Park as well as within the club’s Academy teams and on digital channels.

“cinch is a well-established, family-friendly and instantly recognisable brand across the UK and beyond, and this landmark partnership is yet another statement of progress at the club, both on and off the field,” added Webber. “This is an incredibly exciting time for our partnership to begin, as we enter our 10th successive season in the Premier League with a squad packed full of international talent, whilst cinch continues its impressive expansion and innovation in the car market. We look forward to helping each other secure our respective ambitions.”

Badge

Finally, Palace will also be sporting a new badge for the very first time on their 2022/23 kits. The club announced last week they would be making a subtle change to their crest to reflect its recent claim of being able to trace the club’s lineage back to 1861 rather than the original date of 1905.

Historian Peter Manning has documented the link between the two dates, claiming that the original team was set up in 1861 by cricketers from the Crystal Palace club, with the 1905 professional outfit linked to it via ownership by the Crystal Palace company.

“As a lifelong supporter of Crystal Palace, I was proud to learn that our history can be traced back to the Victorian cricketers of 1861 and the indisputable fact that the club played a central role in the very first FA meetings, which shaped the game we all love,” said chairman Steve Parish. “It is fitting that we are recognising our unique history which began in 1861 in our famous crest.”
