Diablo 4’s highly anticipated Season One Battle Pass is set to be released this month.
The Battle Pass is effectively an update to the game containing brand new free and premium content. However, it has already caused some controversy amongst players of the game.
Some newer players to the franchise expressed fury after Diablo developer Rod Fergusson announced that gamers will have to create a completely new character to access the new seasonal features. Blizzard will be continuing with the release despite this, with seasonal updates a key feature of the Diablo franchise and other action role playing games (ARPGs).

Diablo will be hosting a developer live stream this Thursday with further details. Here is everything we know about the battle pass so far.
What will be in the battle pass?
The battle pass will unlock a series of seasonal rewards for players. This, along with creating a character from scratch, should keep the game fresh and exciting, and is one of the main appeals of ARPGs.
The rewards will be as follows:
Free Tiers - available to all
Premium Currency - cosmetics purchases
Premium Tiers - seasonal cosmetics and aesthetics, which are only available in the Premium Battle Pass
Season Boosts - accelerates experience points (XP) to make levelling up multiple characters quicker
Season Boosts, unlike all the other rewards, can’t be unlocked instantly by purchasing tiers. Players will have to earn Season Boosts through playing the game.
How much will the battle pass cost?
There are different types of battle pass, which have different prices and benefits attached. The paid-for battle passes can be purchased with either real money or Diablo’s in-game currency, Platinum.
Free tier - Available to all players, with limited items and progression through 27 tiers.
Premium tier - This will be priced at approximately $10 (around £7.90) or 1000 Platinum and provides access to all 63 tiers of content.
Accelerated tier - This will be priced at $25 (around £19.70) or 2,800 Platinum and has exclusive content, twenty tier skips, and a unique cosmetic item.
When will the battle pass be released?
The exact release date of the battle pass has not been confirmed yet, but it is believed to be sometime this month. Blizzard will be hosting a livestream on Thursday July 6 at 7pm UK time on Diablo 4’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.
In this stream, the release date will be announced, as well as the game’s theme and any further information. This will attract huge attention given the title became Blizzard’s fastest-selling game ever after its initial release in May.
