Everyone says the same thing as Republic of Ireland fans boo Thierry Henry

Boos rang out around the Aviva Stadium during the Republic of Ireland's clash with Belgium as Thierry Henry appeared on the big screen.

It is the first time since the Frenchman's handball in a World Cup play-off in 2009, which denied Ireland a place at the World Cup in South Africa, that Henry has faced an Irish crowd.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona striker is Roberto Martinez' assistant coach with Belgium.

But Irish fans clearly haven't forgotten or forgiven Henry for that handball all those years ago as the video below shows.

Supporters were quick to take to social media after the boos and they were all saying the same thing.

One wrote: "The boo’s for Thierry Henry are my favourite thing about this match. Ireland fans never forget."

Another tweeted: "They’ve shown Henry on the big screen at the Aviva and the whole stadium is booing, Ireland doesn’t forget."

Someone else said: "Ireland never forgets."

One other message read: "Henry still getting booed by the Ireland fans, I would too. Will never forgive him."

Prior to the game, Martinez insisted Henry's past with Ireland was irrelevant.

He said: "Thierry created incredible moments and created incredible stories as a player, and now he is in a completely different role.

"Now Thierry Henry is not a player anymore, he works with the national team and his work is very, very important.

"For me to comment on what Thierry Henry did as a player is out of place."
