People have been left making the same jokes about Kate, Princess of Wales and Penny Mordaunt after watching the two of them at the Coronation of King Charles III.
Their outfits have prompted comments as they both stole the show. Kate wore an ivory Alexander McQueen gown, complete with intricate silver embroidery depicting flowers from each of the four home nations and a Jess Collett x Alexander McQueen headpiece with silver bullion, crystal, and silver threadwork three-dimensional leaf embroidery.
Penny Mordaunt, who could be seen carrying the jewelled Sword of State as part of her role as lord president of the privy council, wore a teal dress with matching cape, complete with a Jane Taylor headband embroidered with a gold fern pattern.
Viewers compared her outfit to everything from Star Trek to Handmaid's Tale, reports The Mirror.
One tweeted: "Just catching up on Coronation shenanigans. Penny Mordaunt looked amazing - like a cross between a Star Wars commander and someone from Game of Thrones. Wow!"
A second agreed: "Penny Mordaunt should be giving Chewbacca his medal".
Similar references were also made about Kate's outfit, with one royal fan remarking: "Is it just me, or is Princess of Wales Kate Middleton looking like 'Cersei Lannister'?"
Another wrote: "I mean, look at Kate Middleton. She looks like she's auditioning for Captain Britain."
Viewers couldn't help but joke there must be some sort of epic battle on the horizon. Sharing side-by-side pics of Kate and Mordaunt, one Twitter user wrote: "Two women, rivals for the empire of the galaxy."
Another chuckled: "Exactly my thoughts. Why has no one put Star Wars theme music to it?"
A third commented: "The way she handled those swords, my money's on Penny."
