'Every year' - Arsenal fans spot recurring Mikel Arteta problem as title charge takes major hit

Arsenal saw their Premier League title bid take another hit as the Gunners dropped two points against West Ham at London Stadium on Sunday. Last weekend, Mikel Arteta's men were also pegged back from a winning position by Liverpool and these two results have seen Man City close the gap at the top to four points.

The visitors scored twice in the first five minutes with quick-fire strikes from Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard, but Said Benrahma pulled one back before half time from the penalty spot. Bukayo Saka was then gifted a superb chance to restore the two-goal cushion from 12 yards after a hand ball by Michail Antonio but the English winger fired his spot kick wide of the target.

Just a few minutes later, Jarrod Bowen came up with the equaliser after latching onto a superb ball over the Arsenal backline. Arteta made numerous changes, which included a return for Eddie Nketiah, but the league leaders could not find a winner.

Man City closed the gap on Saturday afternoon with a dominant 3-1 victory against Leicester City and Arsenal dropping more points sets up a pulsating final few weeks of the title race.

While Arsenal are still in control, for the second consecutive week they have let a two-goal lead slip to drop two points and with City in frightening form, the title race looks to have taken a seismic shift.

Here is how Arsenal fans reacted to another disappointing draw, given their winning position, away from home, with a key problem spotted.

@afcjxmes - Same as every year. With our first team we can compete with anyone but any injuries and the drop-off is painful. That falls on Arteta too.

@chiddyafc - You put the title race in city's hands at this stage of the season.. Yh see ya man

@ReidTheGame - Man City lose a key player or two to injury and they’re fine. Arsenal do it and they crumble. That is the difference. Every year it’s the same

@therealzze - Arsenal not ruthless enough against Liverpool or West Ham when going 2-0 up. That and the Saliba injury has cost us the title. We go again next year.

@nuttyhill - This is where Man City's spending and having basically two first team squads is so unfair. Arsenal prob going to lose the title basically from having some injuries that City just don't have to worry about.

@TacticsJournal - Arsenal will need to work on their depth in the transfer market to compete next season in both the Champions League and Premier League. They’ll struggle with this lack of depth. They’re always one injury away and have been lucky this season.

@AFC_NORTH_LDN - Started off sharp then just caved in. It's not over till it's over but we've made the rest of the season hard for ourselves within 2 games, Can't be letting a 2 goal lead slip on both occasions. Disappointed

@tokes_the - My disappointment cannot be expressed in words. For the second game in a row we throw a 2-0 lead away. And it's ALL OUR FAULT.
