Every word Marc Cucurella said on joining Chelsea, Tottenham incident, Chilwell, Azpilicueta

What an interesting full debut that was for you, Marc...

"Yeah, it was a good game. The last weeks weren't too easy for me but I am happy to be here. I trained only one day and then played at Goodison Park. But the team won and I am very happy to be here and adapt to the team."

Were you aware of the intensity between Chelsea and Tottenham, did you know what a big match it was?

"It was a derby and all the derbies are difficult and have a good atmosphere. I think the team played really well. We created more chances to win the game but we drew in the last minute. But I think the performance of the team was really good."

How is the hair?

"Yeah, good."

Were you surprised that play carried on and there wasn't a foul given?

"For me, yes, because it was clear. In the game, out on the pitch, I didn't see the video. But I think with the video it is very clear. This is maybe one error to the referee or the VAR. But sometimes the referee make good decisions, sometimes not good decisions. This is not my problem. The players are focused on the game and maybe we have to work hard to not concede this goal in the last minute in the next games."

What did he say to you when the incident happened?

"Nothing. The referee in the stadium said they were checking a red card and for me, it's very clear. The video is very clear. At this moment, with the referee, I don't know what happened. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. This is football and in this game, it was an error. But in another game, the referee takes a good decision."

What was your summer like? Manchester City were very interested in you at one stage...

"The summer was busy, a lot of rumours. When I was with Brighton in the summer, I thought it was a good moment for me to move to a big club and I think Chelsea are a big club. I am very happy to be here, they were very interested in me all summer, so I'm very happy."

When you heard of Chelsea's interest, were you very keen to come here as soon as possible?

"I am very happy because it's a lot of money and it's a bit responsiblity for me. I am happy because Todd (Boehly) and the gaffer were very interested in me coming here. So I am very happy to be here and I need to work hard, adapt to the team, and be ready to play well for the club."

How much did you enjoy being part of Sunday's game and everything that happened at the end?

"It's amazing. I remember last season, when we played with Brighton, we scored in the last minute and I remember the atmosphere in the stadium was very good and the fans were all the time singing. Playing at home is very nice. The stadium is very famous, a historic stadium. To play for this club is very nice for me."

What's your best position do you think?

"The three positions on the left side is good for me. I think my best position is left-back because I play all my career in the academies in this position. I have more movements and I stay more comfortabl. But if the gaffer puts me in another position, I run as well and I need to be good for the team."

Do you have a message for Brighton supporters after your fantastic season there?

"Of course, when I came here to England in Brighton it was difficult for me but they helped me a lot. They helped me change country, to a new language and for my family. The first few months were very difficult but they helped. The coach gave me the opportunity to play in the Premier League. It was maybe the best year in my career and I am very happy for all of them, the fans and to be with the Seagulls."

Did it hurt having your hair pulled?

"No, for me it is no problem. Before the game, I spoke with him and it is a fight on the pitch. I have no problem with him and it is only an action in the game. Maybe it was an important action as it maybe changed the final result. I think we will have another opportunity in a few months and this is our opportunity."

Will you get your hair cut?

"No, no. This is my style."

When was your first conversation with Thomas Tuchel?

"I am surprised because they met me when I played in Barcelona's academy. He was a big fan and I am surprised because I didn't know why he met me. He said I needed to work hard. He was happy I stayed here. This is a big opportunity because they gave me this opportunity and I need to work hard for him."

Do you want to be a free-kick taker here at Chelsea, you can take a great corner?

"No, I think the free-kicks are difficult. At Brighton, I train them, but here there are a lot of good players to take the free kicks. Maybe if I have the opportunity, I'll shoot one free-kick and score, 100%."

You've been given a six-year contract, what do you want to achieve and can you compete against Man City and Liverpool?

"I think we have a good team, a lot of young players. Winning trophies is very difficult but we work hard all season for these moments. The team have the experience to win big trophies, and this is our objective this season. Obviously, the Premier League is one of the best (trophies to win)."

Ben Chilwell, will you compete with him and each other?

"He helped me a lot in these first days. He's a very good person. It's good competition because we need to work hard to play. We have two players for one position and if one player is better, the gaffer will put him in the line-up. I think this is good for the team."

Contract a big show of faith, what did the owners say about it?

"It's a long time, but maybe when you go to a big club you need some years to adapt. It's good I'm not pressured in my mind after six months. It's just working hard, play for the team, enjoy the football. This is only the papers (presume he means the contract?) but if I'm happy here I stay for more years."

A few statement signings made by Chelsea, did owners tell you how they see the club's future?

"When I spoke (to Boehly) he told me Azpilicueta extended his contract. I was focused on my things, but the team is very good. Maybe if more players arrive it's better for the team but I think the level of the team is very high."

Will signing for Chelsea help your Spain ambitions? Is the World Cup a target?

"I think this is a big step for my career. I have the opportunity to play Champions League, to fight for trophies, to win the league. This is a good opportunity for me because if I play good, I stay in a good club and I have more opportunities to play with the national team."

As a fellow Spaniard, how has Cesar Azpilicueta helped you settle? And Thomas Tuchel has already said he believes you could maybe emulate the Chelsea captain...

"I'm very happy with this [Azpilicueta staying] because Azpilicueta is a legend here. I remember when I looked on my mobile phone I saw the players, and Azpilicueta stayed here for 10 years, stayed in a big club always playing every game, and now he's the captain.

"The gaffer compared me with this player is very good for me. I have a good responsibility to work hard and he helped me a lot, because he speaks Spanish, with the housing, with the schools, with the kids. I think it's very good for me that the captain is Spanish because he helped me and he's an important player here. I'm happy."
