How did it work with Thomas this afternoon [after his positive Covid test]?
"There has been ongoing communication with Benni Weber [assistant coach/analyst]. We knows about our game, of course, and stayed in touch for the whole game. He was involved in the whole preparation of the game so everything was clear in what we wanted to do and we stayed the whole time in touch. All good."
What were his thoughts at the end of the game?
"I did not talk right now to him but we will do later. I think, for me, we had 60 minutes where we could lead 3-1. We had many opportunities, crosses from the side, touches in the box. We were a little bit unlucky with the crossbar and post and at the same time, we score more or less an own goal.
"So we had a little bit of difficulty but everyone will say in the FA Cup the most important thing is to go through and that is what we did."
What is the situation with Thomas and the Club World Cup?
"Right now, I do not know exactly what the situation is with Thomas and when he will be back. He has to follow the government rules and is in self-isolation. So we will look forward forward in the next days."
What did you make of Romelu Lukaku's performance today?
"For him, maybe, it's a little bit tough right now to score. He is working a lot for the team, doing a lot of touches, but is a little bit unlucky.
"We try to put him [on the pitch], give him opportunities, and we will keep on like this because he is an important player for us. He is a striker so therefore he also needs some trust in the moments he doesn't score."
Is it a problem you played 120 minutes ahead of the Club World Cup?
"Hopefully not. We had to accept that after the break we had, it was tough against an opponent who was very well organised. To play 120 minutes was not the target for today we have to say. We had a bit of little injuries, hopefully only little injuries. So we will see.
"It is not easy to come back after the break and play a game like this. Even if for me, for a long time, it was a good game."
Did Mason Mount come off with an injury and is there reason to be concerned ahead of the Club World Cup?
"Hopefully not, we will see. He felt an injury in extra time with this shot on goal. Only by this shot – it wasn't a serious problem during the game – it was only when he had the shot he realised he had quick he felt pain and so we took him off.
"We will see. There will be further exams. Hopefully, it's not too bad but right now I can't promise what the situation is."
You must be very pleased about Kepa's performance and his penalty save?
"It's not only about the penalty save but it's also about the performance. It was a very good performance.
"In the last matches, I've felt him very reliable in his game. His strength is to save penalties, he's shown it a few times now: in the Carabao Cup twice, against Villarreal, and even In training, it's hard to beat him.
"In penalty shootouts, he has the ability to read the mind of what the player is going to do. We are very happy with Kepa and he deserves this trust because he is a fantastic guy.
"To work with him for one year, it is hard for him because Edou [Mendy] is playing very good, but Kepa is constantly doing very good work in training, reliable work. He is friendly and an amazing guy. So I am very happy for him he could save us from a penalty shootout."
How did it feel to be on the touchline handing out instructions?
"We see it as a team effort. Zsolt (Low), Anthony (Barry), and H is included (Hilario), Benni too. We all felt a little bit excited because we are used to having Thomas by our side. It is different but the team made it very easy for us and helped us also in our work.
"We felt very good and very supported. But it is definitely different from when Thomas is there. We are not the main responsibility for the game"
