Every Wetherspoon pub in Bristol ranked from best to worst on TripAdvisor

Wetherspoons pubs have long been a staple of the British pub scene, and in Bristol we're lucky enough to have 10 of them.

Whenever you fancy grabbing a cheap drink and a quick bite to eat, there's always a trusty 'Spoons nearby to meet your needs.

And each one has its own unique characteristics, whether you want to eat breakfast in an old cinema or nurse a pint on the harbourside.

But which Wetherspoons pub is actually the best?

We've taken a look at the Tripadvisor ratings for each pub in Bristol to see what customers think about each one, and ranked them from highest to lowest.

As all of Bristol's Wetherspoons pubs have a broadly similar rating out of five, we've also factored in their Tripadvisor's "Quick Bites" category ranking - although not all of the pubs are judged by this category on the website.

Take a look below to find out how your local fared.

The Knights Templar - 3.5

The Knight's Templar is the highest rated Spoons on Tripadvisor, with a 3.5 overall rating and a placement as the 79th best "Quick Bite" in the city.

The pub is in an ideal position for commuters, just around the corner from Temple Meads, and it takes its name from the Knights Templar who once owned the land that it stands on.

Some customers have been kind in their Tripadvisor reviews, with one saying that the food was good and "the staff were very welcoming and seemed genuinely pleased to see us."

However, one reviewer recently wrote a scathing one-star review of the "terrible" food, despite saying the pub had a good atmosphere.

The Commercial Rooms - 3.5

The Commercial Rooms is also rated among the best Wetherspoons' in the city, with a Quick Bite ranking of 81.

The city centre pub became a 'spoons in 1995, and can usually be found heaving with people on a weekend.

The W G Grace - 3.5

Located on the bustling Whiteladies Road in Clifton, the W G Grace is ranked number 137 on Tripadvisor's Quick Bite category.

One kind reviewer wrote in March 2020 that the pub is "one of the best spoons in Bristol", as it is "very aesthetic thus making for a nice ambience".

The Berkeley - 3.5

Converted from a former shopping arcade on Queens Road, The Berkeley is another of the city centre's Wetherspoons offerings.

It's in a prime location, and many of it's Tripadvisor reviews comment on how busy the pub is.

It gets a slightly lower Quick Bite rating, coming in at 184, but it still has one of the higher overall ratings.

The Staple Hill Oak - 3.5

The Staple Hill Oak can be found on the outskirts of Bristol, and it boasts a higher rating than some of the other Wetherspoons pubs in the city.

It's named after a tree which stood south of Staple Hill's High Street, which the village was developed around.

One reviewer on Tripadvisor wrote a detailed five-star review explaining that it's "not your average 'spoons".

They wrote: "It’s got the friendliest staff and the nicest atmosphere of all the pubs in Staple Hill or Fishponds. Feels more like a family/community pub than a ‘spoons."

Van Dyck Forum - 3.5

Located on Fishponds Road, the Van Dyck Forum was used for several purposes before it became a pub.

It was built in 1926 as a cinema and was then converted into a bingo hall 1973, before eventually becoming a Wetherspoons.

Like many of the other establishments on this list it has a fairly good rating of 3.5.

V-Shed - 3

The V Shed is rated as 189 in the Quick Bites category, which is not much lower than The Berkeley, but it has a worse overall rating of 3.

The building is, like the M Shed, part of the history of the docks, but customers are clearly less happy with the V Shed than they are with other Bristol Wetherspoons pubs.

And one person wrote a fairly flat three-star review which said that it simply "does what is says on the tin", although they acknowledged that "there’s a nice view over the water".

The Kingswood Colliers - 3

Kingswood's very own Wetherspoons is right out on the eastern edge of the city, and has been named after the underground workmen from the area's past.

It's also got an average rating of just three out of five, making it one the less highly regarded 'spoons pubs in Bristol, according to Tripadvisor.

The Jolly Sailor - 3

The Jolly Sailor is found right in the middle of Hanham's high street, and it's been a pub since 1788.

It's one of the city's lowest rated 'spoons, but it's also got a storied history with its association to the Cockroad Gang who terrorised the area in the 1700s.

The Robert Fitzharding - 3

Bedminster's Wetherspoons falls towards the bottom of the pile, with a Quick Bite ranking of 236 out of 275.

It's the only 'spoons which is south of the River Avon, and it's named after the lord of the manor in Norman times.

It's got a lower review than some of the other pubs on this list, although some people have left bad comments for things as simple as having a "wonky table".
