The January transfer window has slammed shut, meaning clubs in England’s top four divisions can no longer buy, sell or loan players until this season ends.
Having spent around £160million on eight new signings in the summer, it was always likely that West Ham ’s spending will be kept to a minimum in the January window.
West Ham signed just two players in the window, starting off with the free acquisition of Brazilian centre-back Luizao from Sao Paulo, initially for the club’s academy.

Their other signing added a new option to the club’s attacking line, spending £12million on an initial fee for striker Danny Ings from Aston Villa. That could rise to as high as £15m after potential add-ons.
While two players have joined permanently, nine have departed the club, with three leaving on loan and six more departing permanently.
Goalkeeper Brian Kinnear, midfielder Conor Coventry and forward Thierry Nevers have all departed on short-term deals, joining Falkirk, Rotherham United and Bradford City on loan respectively.
Of that £12m fee, over half of that has been recouped in fees from sales. Centre-back Craig Dawson’s exit to Wolverhampton Wanderers was for a fee of £3.3m, while the sale of academy right-back Harrison Ashby to Newcastle United on deadline day bought in another £3m, plus potential add-ons.
Goalkeeper Darren Randolph, midfielder Pierre Ekwah and right-back Will Greenidge also left this month for undisclosed fees, joining Bournemouth, Sunderland and Colchester United respectively.
In the final minutes of the window, left-back Manny Longelo, who spent the first half of the season out on loan at Birmingham City, joined the Championship side permanently in a £400,000 move.
