After a near 25 year long career, the legendary metalcore outfit Every Time I Die has announced they’re breaking up. The news came rather abruptly last night, as four of the five band members posted a statement which briefly outlines their decision to split.
“Andy, Jordan, Steve and Goose's last show with Every Time I Die was on Dec 11, 2021. While we hoped to come to an agreed upon legal statement that outlined the truth, we were informed today of something planned to be released not mutually agreed upon that consists of inaccuracies and controls a narrative to benefit one.
There has been no direct communication with Keith, because it's either impossible for direct communication with him solely or we've been cut off to any and all communication by him himself.
Every Time I Die was these 5 members, and we were never budging or accepting any changes. Simply, there is zero truth about the band continuing on with a new singer. Lastly, we wouldn't be where we are today without every single person that's backed the band in any & all ways. While we're extremely disappointed in how this was played out online in front of you, your support and the memories we have because of you all will always be cherished.
See you soon. Forever grateful,
Andy, Jordan, Steve & Goose”
Back in early December the band went through a very public conflict with their frontman, Keith Buckley, who at the time announced he was taking a hiatus from ETID whilst still preparing for the band’s upcoming holiday shows. However, in response to the rest of the band members’ statement regarding their breakup, Keith Buckley posted a picture of a legal document he received dating back to December 2021. Among several demands, the document orders Buckley to “immediately cease and desist all usage of the Band name, logo, or other intellectual property until there is a formal signed separation agreement between the parties which authorizes [Keith Buckley] to do so.” No additional comment was posted by Buckley other than the photo showcasing the legal document.
This all comes as a huge shock to the heavy music community, especially with how things were slated for the band in 2022; ETID were only weeks away from their massive U.K. and U.S. tour supporting Underoath. Not only this but the band happened to release a career defining record this past October with Radical, which now looks to be their last and final studio album. And while it’s bittersweet to see the band go out on such a climactic release, the outcry from their fans and fellow musicians only goes to show that they’ll be sorely missed.
