Every team Man City can face in Champions League last 16 as two opponents ruled out

Manchester City secured their place in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, after drawing 0-0 with Borussia Dortmund.

Riyad Mahrez spurned a golden opportunity from the spot as the Blues were held by the Bundesliga outfit, with it now slightly clearer who Pep Guardiola's side could face in the next round. With this European campaign again throwing up its own shocks, Barcelona were the latest side to be eliminated following Inter Milan's victory on Wednesday.

Having seen off Sporting Lisbon in last season's round of 16, it seems City will once more receive a more favorable opponent having secured top spot in Group G. With some teams already safely through, here's a closer look at who Guardiola's side could now come up against.

With the draw not set to be made for another two weeks, the Blues have just one game remaining against Sevilla at the Etihad on November 2. Runners up already through and potential opponents for City are Porto, Inter or Benfica.

Hypothetically speaking Milan or RB Salzburg from Group E, RB Leipzig or Shaktar from Group F and one of Marseille, Sporting and Eintracht Frankfurt from Group D could also meet City, with the full fate of their standings yet to be decided on Matchday 6.

Liverpool and Tottenham are of course exempt from meeting Guardiola's side in the last 16 as they come from the same country, whilst Dortmund will not face last season's semi-finals, having progressed from the same group themselves earlier this week.
