The Champions League league phase came to an end on Jan. 29 as 12 teams were eliminated from the competition.
In UEFA's premier competition, there's no more benefit of dropping down to the Europa League if you finished third in your group. The new league table ensures 24 teams advance to the knockout stage bracket, and the other 12 teams are eliminated completely from European competition.
Every Team Eliminated From the 2024–25 Champions League
Here's the full list of teams eliminated from the Champions League after Jan. 29:
- Dinamo Zagreb
- VfB Stuttgart
- Shakhtar Donetsk
- Bologna
- Crvena zvezda
- SK Sturm Graz
- Sparta Praha
- RB Leipzig
- Girona
- RB Salzburg
- Slovan Bratislava
- Young Boys
RB Leipzig, VfB Stuttgart, Girona and Bologna are among the notable teams eliminated. Manchester City nearly were included in this group after trailing Club Brugge at halftime on the final day. Though, Pep Guardiola's side scored three in the second half to advance.
Next up, the knockout stage playoff. Sixteen of the 24 qualified teams have to play a two-legged playoff to qualify for the round of 16. Once the playoff round concludes, eight more teams will be eliminated from the competition. With Manchester City guaranteed to face one of Bayern Munich or Real Madrid, we'll have to say goodbye to one of those teams by the next stage of competition.
