Every Rangers player rated after Europa League triumph over Fenerbahce

Rangers progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League on Thursday evening with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Fenerbahce at Ibrox.

Here is how every one of their players rated.

Jack Butland - 6/10

Butland was rarely tested in the opening 45, with most of his actions including punts up the park or simple catches from Fenerbahce crosses or balls over the top. When he eventually was worked, the keeper could do little to prevent Sebastian Szymanski's terrific volley from finding the back of the net. His second-half performance took a similar theme.

Dujon Sterling - 5/10

Making his first Rangers start since the beginning of January away at Hibernian, Sterling might feel slightly disappointed with his performance. The versatile Englishman - who played at right-wing back this time around - was caught out a fair few times, and the cross for Fenerbahce's opener, somewhat unfortunately, deflected off him before Szymanski leathered home. Booked in the first half and was one of several Rangers players who walked a tightrope in the second 45. Was replaced by Ridvan Yilmaz not long before the hour mark.

James Tavernier - 6/10

Starting on the right-hand side of a central defensive back three, Tavernier looked to use his ball-playing capabilities as Rangers built from the back. Was caught in no man's land for Szymanski's first-half strike, failing to get a head on the initial cross. Other than that, the skipper carried out his defensive duties adequately.

John Souttar - 7/10

There is a valid argument to suggest that Souttar suits playing in a back five much more than a four, and that was the case in this tie. The Scotland international played as the most central of Rangers' backline and was continually aggressive in his actions, stepping up from the defensive line and intercepting and tackling, at times, rather high up the pitch.

Leon Balogun - 6/10

The experienced campaigner read the game as well as one has come to expect of him of late. Partnered congenially with Souttar and covered well on the few occasions Jefte looked to get forward. Many have labelled Balogun Rangers' best defender despite his age, and while he stood up to the challenge at times/stood up to the challenge....

Jefte - 5/10

It would be wrong to say Jefte had a considerably positive impact on proceedings. Brazilian would have been given license to roam and drive forward from left-wing back, but it was rare to see him really threaten Fenerbahce's defenders. Should have been stronger in the tackle in the build-up to Fenerbahce's second of the evening.

Nicolas Raskin - 6/10

Belgian proved ever-aggressive in the middle of the park. Worked well in tandem with his engine-room colleagues Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande. Won several 50/50 challenges, although appeared to tire as the game wore on.

Connor Barron - 8/10

A constant source of energy in the midfield for Rangers. Barron wasn't afraid to step in and prove an aggressive nuisance to the likes of Fred and Sofyan Amrabat. 22-year-old got involved going forward, too, and in the transition, managed to set up several opportunities for his teammates. Barry Ferguson's reintroduction of Barron to the scene over the past seven days has been equally

Mohamed Diomande - 6/10

As Rangers attacked, Diomande always proved an option on the edge of the box with third-man runs. Midfielder received a rather harsh yellow card at the end of the opening 45, which means he will miss the first leg of Rangers' quarter-final tie with Athletic Club in a few weeks. Said booking was likely a key factor in Ferguson's decision to bring him off with just over 20 minutes to go.

Vaclav Cerny - 8/10

Provided a continual attacking threat with his ever-present pace. Drove Rangers forward in the final third and looked particularly lively in the game's infancy. Cerny tested the Fenerbahce goalkeeper on a number of occasions in the opening 45 and struck fear into the heart of opposition defenders when he got going in attack.

Cyriel Dessers - 6/10

Nigerian striker wasn't afraid to make use of his big physical frame, proving a thorn in the side of the likes of Milan Skriniar and Yusuf Akicek when Rangers went long and high. Dessers appeared to frustrate Fenerbahce's defenders with his presence, winning scrappy balls and free-kicks.

Subs

Ridvan Yilmaz (for Sterling 55) - Was initially thrown right into the thick of the action when introduced, with Filip Kostic initially testing him out in a one-on-one.

Hamza Igamane (for Dessers 67) - Almost had a perfect introduction, forcing a fine save out of Irfan Egribayat moments after he came on. Looked a threat on the counter-attack after replacing Dessers.

Nedim Bajrami (for Diomande 67) - Similarly to his fellow substitute Igamane, Bajrami looked somewhat of a threat on the break after coming on. Was selfish in the final 10 minutes of the 90, firing a wayward effort off target.

Ianis Hagi (for Jefte 84) - Was inches away from finding a dramatic late winner at the end of the 90, yet the Romanian failed to connect with a low-driven ball across the face of goal.

Tom Lawrence (Barron 95) - Welshman came on at the beginning of extra time and made a crucial interception at the end of the first half of the further 30 minutes.
