Every confirmed team Chelsea can face in Champions League Round of 16 amid Lionel Messi problem

It has been confirmed which clubs Chelsea could face in the Champions League round of 16 following the conclusion of the group stages. The Blues got their revenge over Dinamo Zagreb with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Denis Zakaria.

The west Londoners topped the group on 13 points, with AC Milan in second on 10 points. RB Salzburg settled in third with six points and Zagreb finished bottom on just four points.

By finishing top of Group E, Chelsea will be up against either Club Brugge, Inter Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund or Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16. The 2022/23 UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw is scheduled for 11:00 BST on November 7 at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland

There will be two seeding pots; one contains the eight group winners (seeded), and the other consists of eight group runners-up (unseeded). Seeded sides will play away in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 and home in the second leg.

No team can play a club from their group or from their own country, meaning Graham Potter's side won't have to worry about facing Manchester City just yet. The round of 16 fixtures will be played on February 14/15/21/22, and March 7/8/14/15, 2023.

So, with that being said, football.london have taken a look at all the sides that Chelsea could play in the first round of the Champions League knockout stage.

Club Brugge

Club Brugge finished second in Group B with Porto swooping in to clinch top spot. The Belgian giants have surprised supporters this term and could be a dark horse that test Chelsea.

Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund held Pep Guardiola's side to a goalless draw on matchday five with an impressive display. While they're not armed with Erling Haaland anymore, they remain a formidable side that pose a threat to the Blues.

Inter Milan

Not quite Bayern Munich who topped Group B, but the Italian side have shown their strength with Barcelona pushed into the Europa League. This could also be the perfect chance to get a closer look at transfer target Denzel Dumfries.

Eintracht Frankfurt

The Europa League winners pulling their weight with the big boys. The German side caused Tottenham a few problems in the group stages but couldn't quite find the cutting edge.

RB Leipzig

With Real Madrid reclaiming top spot, Timo Werner and Chelsea are set for a reunion. With the round of 16 first-leg set to be played in February, who knows which side Christopher Nkunku will be vying for by then...

Paris Saint-Germain

PSG will always be a force to be reckoned with if Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe are in the front three. Chelsea went through a period of always drawing the French giants so the stars could align once more.
