It's the biggest game in the Scottish football calendar, but it could be missing some of the biggest stars in the country.
And the list of players who won't make the game for either Rangers or Celtic continues to grow.
The SPFL opted to bring the winter break forward in the wake of Scottish Government crowd restrictions and that has led to a domino effect on the fixture list.
The top of the table clash between the Glasgow rivals has been shifted to February 2, coinciding with international fixtures across the globe.
The Africa Cup of Nations is well underway and players from South America, North America and Asia are set to be playing World Cup qualifiers.
In effect it's really only UEFA countries who AREN'T playing in late January and early February so it leaves Ange Postecoglou and Gio van Bronckhorst on a hiding to nothing if their stars are summoned.
Record Sport takes a look at every player who could be missing the vital fixture at Celtic Park.
Celtic
Tom Rogic (Australia)
The Celtic playmaker is almost certain to be missing derby day for international duty.
His national team take on Vietnam and Oman as they look to move into the qualifying spots.
Boss Graham Arnold has already confirmed he feels like he needs the midfielder in his squad, who has recaptured his best form under his old international manager.
Arnold said: “I need my best players and the best players Tommy Rogic is one of them."
Kyogo Furuhashi (Japan)
The Celtic forward pulled up against St Johnstone on Boxing Day and did not appear in the squad against Hibs.
Japan boss Hajime Moriyasu has admitted it is unlikely he will be able to draft the Celtic star into his squad due to his fitness so is unlikely to be called up for the January 27 clash with China and the February 1 top of the group showdown with Saudi Arabia.
It's a confusing situation. If he is deemed fit, Moriyasu will likely draft him into the squad. But he may look for attacking alternatives...
Daizen Maeda (Japan)
And speaking of attacking alternatives, Daizen Maeda got off to a scoring start at Parkhead.
He has been capped twice for his national side with the last appearance coming in 2019 against Chile.
But having finished as the top scorer in the J-League last season and earned a move to Europe, he could be at the forefront of the manager's thoughts.
Reo Hatate (Japan)
Hatate has become an instant fan favourite at Celtic Park after his stand-out showing against Hibs.
But could it be that form that sees him miss derby day?
After winning back-to-back J-League titles he was drafted into the squad for the last round of Japan World Cup qualifiers.
His form has yet to be rewarded with a cap but Moriyasu may look need the versatile 24-year-old again.
Yosuke Ideguchi (Japan)
Ideguchi has 15 international caps to his name but hasn't been a mainstay of the Japan team in recent seasons.
Despite impressing for Gamba Osaka in recent years, he hasn't been part of an international squad since 2018 as part of the pre-World Cup squad.
A good run of form at Celtic could change all that after making his debut off the bench against Hibs - but out of the quartet he's the least likely to get the call at this moment in time.
Cameron Carter-Vickers (America)
The centre-back is enjoying a great season at the back for the Hoops and could earn an international recall.
He has been used sparingly by the national side but could have caught the eye given his minutes at the back this term on loan from Tottenham.
The States have a World Cup qualifying triple header facing El Salvador, Canada and Honduras from January 28 to February 3.
Rangers
Kemar Roofe (Jamaica)
The Rangers striker has had to make a mad dash back from international duty before but would definitely be another attacking option missing for Gio van Bronckhorst.
They play Mexico on January 28, Panama on January 30 and Costa Rica on February 3.
Roofe has been a regular in the squad in recent qualifiers and is likely to receive the call again.
Joe Aribo (Nigeria)
Aribo has been catching the eye at the AFCON as Nigeria cruised to the knockout stages in back-to-back wins.
But Rangers fans may be hoping the good run of form comes to an end with the vital playmaker running the risk of missing the clash.
The quarter-finals of the competition are on January 29 and January 30, which if the Super Eagles crash out at that stage would see a hasty journey back to Scotland for Aribo.
If they reach the semi-final stage, with the first fixture on February 2, he will be out of the visit to Parkhead for definite.
James Sands (USA)
Sands has enjoyed a whirlwind year.
As well as winning the MLS Cup with New York City FC, he earned his first international cap for the national side in July during the Gold Cup.
That impressive record earned him his move to Rangers, but could be bad news for Van Bronckhorst.
Though he wasn't involved in some recent qualifiers he's now an MLS champion plying his trade in Europe and that will do his USMNT chances no harm at all.
Alfredo Morelos (Colombia)
Morelos has been revitalised by the arrival of new Ibrox boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, but that comes with a cost.
That has grabbed boss Reinaldo Rueda's attention and he has been recalled to the Colombia squad for the first time since the Copa America.
He will now be a part of the crucial double-header against Peru on January 28th and Argentina on February 1.
