Goodison Park, the home of Everton - (Getty Images)

Follow live coverage as Everton face Wolverhampton Wanderers today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:38

Everton have produced just 0.53 expected goals (xG) in this one, but Dyche won't care with his side finding the back of the net twice. Wolves have created 0.77 expected goals from five shots, with two of those being on target, but their finishing has left a lot to be desired. According to Opta's live win probability calculator, Everton have an 89.6% chance of winning from here, with a draw at 8.2% and a Wolves victory at 2.2%. It wouldn't be a surprise to see some early changes from O'Neil after the break as he looks to get his side back into the game. Could we see Hwang, Bellegarde, or Rodrigo Gomes introduced shortly after half-time?

Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Everton head into the break with a 2-0 lead over Wolves at Goodison Park in the Premier League. The Toffees opened the scoring after Calvert-Lewin was brought down just outside the area, and Young stepped up to dispatch a perfectly placed free-kick into the bottom corner. Everton thought they doubled their lead as Tarkowski headed home from a McNeil delivery, but Mangala was adjudged to have been in an offside position and interfering with play. Eventually, Dyche's side did find a second as Mangala pounced on a loose ball on the edge of the box, and his deflected effort flew into the back of the net beyond Sa. Wolves have had chances, but Everton have been the more clinical side today.

Calvert-Lewin and McNeil combine before the ball falls to Doucoure, and he turns and drives towards the penalty area. He strikes it low, but he drags it wide of the post.

Everton are remaining patient in possession as we edge closer to half-time. The Toffees aren't taking too many risks, with Dyche's side hoping to keep their leading heading into the break.

Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

20:11

Dyche will, of course, be the happier of the two managers here, but he has to ensure his side are aware of the threat of Wolves on the break. O'Neil's side have looked dangerous at times, but it's Everton who have been more clinical.

Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:55

Everton counter-attack and Mangala receives the ball just outside the box before picking out Young on the overlap. He fires a cross low and hard across goal, but none of his team-mates are on the same wavelength and it's behind for a goal-kick.

There was a lengthy delay of a few minutes as VAR checked over that disallowed goal. Mangala didn't touch the ball, but he was in an offside position, blocking the run of Lemina and preventing him from marking Tarkowski.

Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves have won five of their last six league games against Everton (D1), more victories than they’d managed in their previous 21 against them (W4 D8 L9). The Wanderers have scored four goals in three of their last 16 away Premier League games, having only done so once in their first 180 away games in the competition. They are also looking to score two or more goals in four consecutive away top-flight matches for the first time since April 1980. Gary O’Neil’s side suffered a 4-2 defeat against Bournemouth at Molineux Stadium in their last Premier League match to end a four-match unbeaten streak, leaving them in 18th place on nine points.

Everton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

19:02

Everton are currently winless in five straight Premier League games and sit in 15th place on 11 points, with a loss today taking them into the relegation zone. The Toffees have lost their last three home league games against Wolves. It’s their longest losing home run against the Midlands side, and as many defeats as they’d suffered in their previous 18 against them at Goodison Park (W9 D6). Two of Everton’s last three home Premier League matches have ended goalless, as many as in their previous 54 combined at Goodison Park. A win for Everton could see them go five points above the relegation zone.
