Goodison Park, the home of Everton - (Getty Images)

Follow live coverage as Everton face West Ham United today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Everton FC 0 - 1 West Ham United FC

Everton vs West Ham United

16:47

Everton continue to put pressure on West Ham as we enter the closing moments. They have had numerous corners and free-kicks in this second half, but they haven’t been able to score from any of them.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:45

Yellow Card Youssef Ramalho Chermiti

Everton vs West Ham United

16:44

West Ham make a change of their own as they look to close out this lead. Soler comes on in midfield for the recently booked Paqueta, and he will look to add some calm to the midfield.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:44

Paqueta gets himself booked for a reckless challenge on Lindstrom in midfield. It wasn’t a necessary tackle to make, and he’s picked up a silly yellow.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:44

Finally, the last of the three changes sees Beto come off after a valiant effort up top. This game simply didn’t click for him, and he is replaced by Broja in an attempt to give some life up front.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:44

Garner is also off, with his last contribution being that free-kick which came to nothing. He has also had a quiet game, and he is replaced by Iroegbunam in midfield.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:43

Everton make three more changes as David Moyes throws the kitchen sink at this game. Harrison is off after a lacklustre performance, and he is replaced by Chermiti.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:42

Garner whipped in another long free-kick, but it will go down as another opportunity for Everton to load the box that they didn’t make use of.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:41

Everton are heaping the pressure on now that they need to score, and the home fans must be wondering where this has been for the last 75 minutes! Granted, West Ham are sitting back slightly, but this looks like a different side.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:38

Everton had an opportunity from a corner, but after a few headers back and forth, the ball could only be cleared for another corner. Harrison tried to make it work as the ball came back out to him, but the period of pressure from Everton broke down there.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:33

It will be very interesting to see how Everton’s style changes now that they need to go forward. West Ham will leapfrog them in the table if the score remains this way.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:30

Assist Jarrod Bowen

Everton vs West Ham United

16:30

GOOOOOOAL! We finally have an opener and it goes the way of West Ham, courtesy of Soucek! He scores yet again for the Irons, and Everton find themselves behind! It was a great turn on a twopence inside the box from the big man, and he slammed a shot past Pickford with his right foot, and into the bottom right corner. This game NEEDED that! 1-0 to West Ham!

Everton vs West Ham United

16:30

Substitution Abdoulaye Doucouré Jesper Grænge Lindstrøm

Everton vs West Ham United

16:29

Everton have attempted 347 passes in this match, which is higher than their season average of 346.6 in the Premier League. All that passing around the back begins to add up at some point!

Everton vs West Ham United

16:27

This game continues to rumble on, and we are no closer to finding a winner after 65 minutes. This half has almost been a carbon copy of the first, with neither side looking up for the game.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:23

Pickford saves a Bowen shot once more, and this time it was a well hit shot from the left side of the box, but the Everton goalkeeper was more than equal to it as he parried it out to his left.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:21

David Moyes looks to be readying subs as he looks to change his team, and the game in the process.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:21

There is still a very relaxed feel to this game, as if neither side wants to win! The crowd are ‘Ole’-ing each Everton pass that’s made inside their own half!

Everton vs West Ham United

16:18

There was a brief delay as West Ham had Paqueta down injured. That situation has been resolved now, and the game is up and running again.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:16

CHANCE! Bowen attempts an overhead kick inside the box, but he ends up kicking the ball awkwardly, and hits himself with the shot! That was a good chance for the away side to go ahead, but Bowen made a mess of the finish!

Everton vs West Ham United

16:13

West Ham have had control over possession in the early moments of this half, which may have been a tactical shift by Graham Potter. In the first half, they rarely had the ball for sustained periods.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:11

Loud shouts of “Come on you Irons!” erupt from the away end, as another free-kick has been sent into the box. Yet again, however, nothing comes of it and Everton cleared the danger.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:08

No changes at the break suggests that there will be some fairly early on in this half. The two benches will be licking their lips at the prospect of coming on in this game. It’s anyone's game.

Everton vs West Ham United

16:05

KICK-OFF! The second half has begun, can either of these sides find what it takes for three big points?

Everton vs West Ham United

16:00

Looking to the second half, both managers will want their sides to show a lot more intensity than what they have so far. The way that the game is going, it looks more likely that Everton will score, but with West Ham seemingly there for the taking, David Moyes will want more from his players as he looks to overcome his former side. For West Ham, they need to start getting their attackers involved more. Bowen had just seven touches in the first half, and if you’re looking to him for goals, he is going to need more service than that. It could be a game of two halves here, let’s hope so.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:58

A slow opening half has come to an end at Goodison Park, and we’re no closer to finding out who will potentially win this game. The first half was full of failed attacks and half-chances, but within that there were a couple of good opportunities for both sides, with Pickford standing out as the reason why the score is still level. He denied a mix of Bowen’s shot and Branthwaite’s deflection in the 14th minute, and from then on it was Everton who posed the most threat. Beto found his feet and subsequently had a flurry of shots around the 25 minute mark, but he couldn’t test Areola properly. Then, in the 45th minute, he went down inside the box, and Everton were awarded a penalty for a foul by either Mavropanos or Kilman, but after a short VAR review, it was overturned after seeing there was insignificant contact. Everton have managed to create 0.45 xG in this half, which is a small figure that is still more than West Ham’s 0.22 xG. Opta’s live win probability scale shows a 37.3% chance of an Everton win, 38.5% for a draw and a 24.2% chance of a West Ham win.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:50

HALF-TIME: EVERTON 0-0 WEST HAM

Everton vs West Ham United

15:50

Todibo has also been booked in the aftermath of the penalty decision, and the reason for the card was dissent to the referee.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:50

NO PENALTY! After a review on the screen, Everton’s penalty has been wiped and we will continue at 0-0. It was judged that there wasn’t significant contact on Beto.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:49

There will be one additional minute.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:47

PENALTY! Everton have a spot-kick right on the stroke of half-time after Beto was brought down inside the box. It was a poor challenge from behind by several West Ham defenders. It is unclear who eventually fouled him, and the VAR are checking the decision.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:45

Everton claim handball by Emerson, and the crowd back them as they shout out for the decision. Nothing was doing for them, however, as the referee waved away their claims.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:44

It seems like both sides just want the half to end as we near the break. There is no intensity that you almost always get in Everton games, which will be worrying for David Moyes.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:42

Another corner for West Ham goes amiss after Ward-Prowse put too much curl on his kick, and ended up sending the ball straight out of play again. He won’t want to watch that back.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:41

Ward-Prowse has an opportunity to swing in another long free-kick, which he does well. The ball was lost for a moment inside the box, and after a small period of pinball, it was cleared by Everton.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:38

Apart from the moments in time of this half, it has been a very slow burner. There have been some opportunities for both sides, but there seems to be an obvious omission of quality.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:36

Areola is forced into a straight-forward save following a shot by O’Brien. It was a well struck shot, but it was never going to trouble a Premier League goalkeeper.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:35

Less than 15 minutes remain in this half, and we are still awaiting an opener. Both sides have gone close, but the score is still level!

Everton vs West Ham United

15:32

Wan-Bisska rides a tricky challenge well in midfield, before driving forward on the right. He played the ball inside, where the attack collapsed, which was a shame for West Ham as that was a rare sight of the other half in this game.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:30

SAVE! Pickford denies a great strike by Bowen! Kilman fed Bowen on the edge of the box, and after flicking the ball up for himself, he sent a volley towards the Everton net. Pickford protects his side again by pushing it over the bar.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:28

Everton are beginning to turn up the heat as we pass 25 minutes. They are looking stronger in attack, and they keep finding themselves in decent positions but are failing to make anything more from them.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:25

Beto has had a flurry of shots in the last few minutes, and his latest one was yet another header in this game. Unfortunately for him, his effort went over the bar before falling onto the roof of the net. He’s starting to grow into this game.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:25

Kilman and Areola have a moment of miscommunication as a loose ball rolled towards their box. Kilman slid in, and crashed into Areola who came out to claim the ball! That could’ve ended badly!

Everton vs West Ham United

15:21

Alcaraz meets a Harrison cross at the back post with a header, but the angle was difficult, and his downwards effort was saved by Areola, despite being on target.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:21

The slow pace, and repeating passing patterns have returned. This time, it’s Everton that are chasing the ball as West Ham spray it around with ease and next to no pressure.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:19

Todibo met a long free-kick with his second shot of the game, but he couldn’t get over the ball enough, and it was an easy header for Pickford to claim in the end.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:18

A moment like that was needed to remind these players that the objective is to score goals, hopefully that should liven up the game a bit more now. Pickford once again showed why he’s England’s number one there.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:14

GREAT SAVE! Pickford denies a certain goal! A West Ham corner came in, and Bowen knocked the ball onto Branthwaite, whose touch sent the ball towards goal. Pickford stuck out a big left hand, denying an own goal to open the game!

Everton vs West Ham United

15:12

The subdued nature of this game highlights clearly how these two teams are heading into the final stages of the season. There doesn’t seem to be much urgency within the players, and it’s made for a slow opening.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:10

Harrison produces some brilliant flicks inside the box to juggle the ball forwards, but his shot is blocked and it never troubled Areola.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:08

Everton now have the ball back in their possession, and they continue to knock the ball around their backline. This game is yet to spark into life.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:07

Kudus is fouled deep in his own half by Gueye, and the referee gives the free-kick to West Ham. The home fans let out a synchronised groan at the decision.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:04

The opening exchanges have been cagey, with neither team managing to get the ball down properly. The ball has resided in the West Ham half more so far, but no other developments have been made.

Everton vs West Ham United

15:01

KICK-OFF! Darren Bond blows his whistle for the first time here, and the 'David Moyes derby' is underway!

Everton vs West Ham United

15:01

The teams are out on the pitch, and we’re nearly ready for kick-off here in Liverpool!

Everton vs West Ham United

14:52

Last time out against Wolves, Everton’s Harrison scored his first Premier League goal in 36 games, he starts again here and will hope to add to the attack once more. Branthwaite starts in defence, just a day after being snubbed of a spot in the England squad. Alcaraz begins the match in midfield, meaning there was no room for Lindstrom, who starts on the bench. For West Ham, Bowen starts up front with Paqueta and Kudus as support. Paqueta regains his starting spot for this match, after starting on the bench against Newcastle. Wan-Bissaka is making his 200th Premier League appearance, as he starts on the right-hand side. Tarkowski captains the home side, with Bowen wearing the armband for the away team.

Everton vs West Ham United

14:52

Everton vs West Ham United

14:41

West Ham have had a poor season by their recent standards, and they will want to wrap this year’s campaign up as soon as possible so Graham Potter can get to work over the Summer. He inherited a mismatched squad that was lacking in confidence, and although his arrival raised spirits somewhat, the results haven’t changed much in terms of the league position. They sit on the same points as Everton (33), but 16th in the table, meaning that this game is a huge chance for them to climb at least one place and have a buffer over their opponents for this match.

Everton vs West Ham United

14:41

Everton come into this game on a great run of form that has recently seen the spirits lifted on Merseyside. They are now on a run of eight games without a loss, after a recent 1-1 draw with Wolves, meaning they sit comfortably above the drop zone in 15th place, with a points total of 33. David Moyes has been recognised by the Premier League for his successes with Everton as he was recently named Manager of the Month for February, a just reward for steadying a ship that looked in real danger of sinking. A win here would further increase that unbeaten run, and have Everton fans looking up the table to see where they might finish the season.

Everton vs West Ham United

14:41

The Premier League season is hurtling towards its conclusion, and for many teams it might be a frightening prospect. These two sides have had their ups and downs this season, with seemingly more of the latter, based on league position. Despite this, they are both theoretically safe from relegation, with the fear of the drop playing its part at some point during this campaign. Everton have West Ham’s number in the head-to-head meetings, with 14 wins out of the last 30 matches between the two, eclipsing West Ham’s eight by some margin.
