Midfield continues to be a position of concern for Everton ahead of the 2022/23 season, though the Blues still have time to rectify this weakness before the new campaign gets underway.
One name Frank Lampard's side have been linked with of late is Morgan Gibbs-White of Wolves, who will reportedly command a fee in the region of £25million. Nottingham Forest are also said to be suitors, though Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell could potentially prove to be a key figure in this transfer battle.
The 48-year-old previously held the role of academy manager, and later technical director, at Wolves and enjoyed a strong relationship with Gibbs-White during his time with the West Midlands club.

While the Blues may have to do some convincing to tempt the 22-year-old to make the move to Goodison Park, the Toffees should require no persuading over pursuing a deal. Gibbs-White recorded double figures for both goals and assists last season while on loan at Sheffield United, helping the Blades secure a top-six finish in the Championship.
Some may argue a move of this kind could potentially backfire on Lampard, though former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has backed the Toffees to take a risk on the youngster as speculation continues to grow over his future at Molineux.
"He had a very good season in the Championship and Everton are clearly willing to take a chance on him," he told Football Insider. "Look, £25million is hefty price tag for a player unproven in the Premier League when you look at Everton’s financial situation.
"It is a big price tag for a young player who has not really proved it at the top level. It would be a risk but perhaps one that is worth taking because he is very talented."
