Everton transfer news: Christian Eriksen 'offered' deal with Richarlison to snub Arsenal

Another day, another exciting chapter in the saga that is Everton. Sale talks rumble on, with Farhad Moshiri said to have held talks over stadium finance, only to neatly progress to a discussion on selling the club outright.

A man with historically strong business ties to an oligarch sanctioned for his own strong business ties to Vladimir Putin is now considering selling the club to a man with strong business and political ties to Donald Trump and Steve Bannon. It almost seems like the inevitable progression.

All of that - and even the obvious rider that talks will be troubled and difficult because of Everton’s dire financial position after three years of massive losses - hasn’t stopped yet more transfer speculation. There are links to yet another midfielder and more intrigue over the future of one of the Blues' most-saleable assets. Mirror Sport takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours from Goodison Park.

Portugal midfielder linked

According to Foot Mercato, Everton are so untroubled by their financial struggles and ongoing takeover talks, they have made an approach for the Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes. Sporting have, reportedly, already turned down one offer for the 23-year-old Portugal international - with Wolves also expressing an interest - of €45M, and have now placed a price of no less than €60M for Nunes.

That equates to £52m, which suggests the bear market in football transfers during the Covid era has now turned swiftly into a bull market. How are Everton going to finance such a massive fee?

Richarlison holds Lampard talks

Brazilian media UOL Sports has suggested that Richarlison has definitively told boss Frank Lampard he wants to move on to a club with Champions League ambitions. That excludes Arsenal, with the Brazil international uninterested in speaking to them, but he is, apparently, ready to talk to Chelsea, who want to rival Tottenham ’s interest in the player.

They are prepared to spend £40m, it is claimed, but Everton want more. And no wonder, given the price tags they are seemingly being quoted in Portugal. There is also a 10 per cent sell on clause with Watford on any profit over £40m should the Blues sell.

Eriksen contract offer

Finally, the Daily Mail suggests that Christian Eriksen, who has just completed a short-term deal with Brentford, has received contract offers from Everton, Manchester United and Spurs. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during the European Championships in Copenhagen in 2021 but has since been passed fit to play football again in the UK.

He showed his form with some brilliant Brentford performances. Boss Frank Lampard wants a midfield playmaker, but with clubs in Europe competing for his signature, it’s unlikely he would choose Goodison.
