Everton transfer decision could alert Nottingham Forest after summer interest claim

Nottingham Forest summer transfer target Michael Keane is reportedly set to leave Everton on loan in the January transfer window.

The 29-year-old has found game time hard to come by at Goodison Park following the summer arrivals of James Tarkowski and Conor Coady. Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate are also all ahead of Keane in the pecking order under Frank Lampard, which could accelerate his exit to another club if an offer is received.

According to the Daily Mail, Forest were interested in landing the centre-back in the summer, along with West Ham, but with Everton short on defenders at the time, the club "turned down offers". Whether Forest revive their interest in the winter remains to be seen.

The report also highlights that Keane could secure a move to a European club after recently getting an Irish passport, which would mean a transfer could bypass Brexit regulations. However, it is said that a move to another Premier League club "would not come as a surprise".

Keane is in his fifth season with the Toffees, having made 188 appearances for the club.
