Everton favourite Kevin Campbell has urged the club to sign Christian Eriksen and said they will be ‘in business’ if they do so.
Eriksen is currently deciding on his future after returning to the game following his cardiac arrest during Euro 2020 last summer. He made a remarkable recovery, signing for Brentford in the new year and he excelled. The Dane helped Thomas Frank’s side secure their Premier League survival as he scored once and added four assists in 11 games.
However, it was Eriksen’s all-round impact to the team that was the most impressive part of his move. Ahead of his first start for the club against Norwich in March, Brentford were just three points clear of safety having played three games more than their relegation rivals. The Bees had also failed to win in eight matches.

Eriksen then inspired Brentford to a 3-1 win against the Canaries which was one of the seven victories from 11 games he featured in as the Bees finished 13th and survived by 11 points. And Campbell couldn’t hide his admiration for the playmaker.
“I think Eriksen’s a wonderful player,” he told Goodison News. “Even when he was a Spurs he was a top player. Obviously the unfortunate thing happened to him at the Euros, but he’s come back and he’s proven himself hasn’t he? He’s proven what a really good player he is.”
Eriksen’s short-term deal expired at Brentford at the end of the season and he has since been weighing up his next move. Everton were one of a number of clubs he was linked with earlier in the summer but recent reports have said he is torn between extending his stay with the Bees or joining former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. Nevertheless, Campbell believes after such an impressive second half of the season, he would be a game changing signing for the Toffees.
He said: “It worked out for both Brentford and him, him getting the last half a season. And now he’s a free, so I’m sure there’s going to be quite a few clubs after him. If Everton could get him, you’re in business.
“Because he’s a player who can not only dictate a game, one of the few players around who can really dictate a game, he can make a difference in a game in a split second.
“He’s that good.”
