Everton to offer Vitalii Mykolenko support following Ukraine invasion

Everton have confirmed they will offer Vitalii Mykolenko all the support he needs following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The defender is understood to have not requested anything from the club at this stage - but the Blues have made clear they are prepared to do anything they can to help the 22-year-old.

Thursday morning brought widespread reports from his home country of explosions across major cities as Russian president Vladimir Putin announced that a military operation had begun.

Mykolenko has taken to social media on two occasions in the last 24 hours, posting in support of his home country with one Instagram story showing a praying emoji.

The defender made the move to Merseyside from Dynamo Kiev early in the January transfer window, signing a four-and-a-half year deal with the club.

The left-back has made three appearances so far for his new club and was on the bench when Everton travelled to face Southampton last time out.

Frank Lampard is set to confirm in his pre-Man City press conference on Friday afternoon whether the defender will be involved for this weekend's match.
