Everton tipped to 'beat West Ham' to Amadou Onana transfer after '£33m bid'

Everton are reportedly hopeful of landing Lille midfielder Amadou Onana after submitting a bid for the midfielder.

According to The Times, the Blues have made a £33million offer to the Ligue 1 club. Reports from France, meanwhile, claim that Everton have tabled a €35m + €5m bid for the Belgium international.

West Ham United, it was reported yesterday, had had an offer worth up to €40m (£33.5m) accepted by Lille for Onana, who, the same reports claimed, they had been tracking all summer.

Onana, who is under contract at LOSC for another four years, joined from Hamburg last summer and made 32 appearances in all competitions for the Stade Pierre Mauroy club.

The ECHO recently reported how Frank Lampard has been seeking midfield reinforcements throughout the summer with a No.6 a priority. The ECHO also understands that the Blues are interested in bringing Idrissa Gueye back to the club.

Gueye made 108 appearances for the Blues over the course of his three-year stint on Merseyside, before joining the Le Parc des Princes club for a fee in the region of £30million in 2019. He fulfilled his dream to play in the Champions League, and was a mainstay in the PSG side during his first two seasons at the club.

However, the midfielder was left out of Les Parisiens' squad for their pre-season tour of Japan earlier this summer, and made just 33 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions last season.
