Everton team news for Brighton as Yerry Mina one of two changes

Yerry Mina will play under Sean Dyche for the first time after being named in the team to face Brighton and Hove Albion.

His selection comes against the backdrop of growing calls for the inclusion of the 28-year-old after a difficult run of performances that has seen Everton concede 11 goals in five games.

Mina was the last remaining fit outfield member of the first team squad yet to get a minute under Dyche, but that will change on the south coast. The Colombia international will get his chance with Michael Keane making way.

Nathan Patterson is also due to make his first start under Dyche. The defender replaced club captain Seamus Coleman following the knee ligament injury he suffered in the first half at Leicester City last week. He now has the opportunity to cement his position as Coleman’s replacement having been overlooked for Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate in previous weeks - when Coleman was absent through a different knock.

Amadou Onana, who was an unused substitute against Leicester having been hit by illness, is on the bench again with James Garner retaining his place in Dyche’s three man central midfield.

Starting XI: Pickford, Mykolenko, Tarkowski, Mina, Patterson; McNeil, Gueye, Garner, Doucoure, Iwobi, Calvert-Lewin
