Everton supporters react with fury after defeat at home to Brighton

Everton and Frank Lampard were booed off of Goodison Park as they were humiliated by Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday evening.

The Toffees were thumped 4-1 by Roberto de Zerbi's side as Kaoru Mitoma's first half goal was followed by three strikes in five second half minutes from Evan Ferguson, Solly March and Pascal Gross. It was Everton's ninth defeat of the Premier League season.

Supporters made their displeasure clear towards the performance of Lampard's side as many walked out after March had slotted the Seagulls' third, which left the Blues hovering above the relegation zone by just a sole point.

Plenty of supporters took to social media to voice their anger at the result.

Some supporters think former manager Rafa Benitez is to blame for some of his decisions while at the club

The Blues had hoped to have turned a corner after they earned a hard-fought point against Manchester City at the Etihad on New Year's Eve thanks to a stunning goal from Demarai Gray, who added a late consolation strike at Goodison Park on Tuesday to his season's tally.

That draw in East Manchester came just days after Everton had been sucker-punched late on by a late defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Boxing Day, but the way in which the Toffees showed discipline against Pep Guardiola's side would have been a pleasing sign for Lampard to take forward.

But after tonight's defeat, however, it appears that Lampard could have an uphill battle in retaining the faith of the Goodison Park faithful, which for many was the final straw before a change is needed.
