Everton suffer Conor Gallagher transfer blow following Thomas Tuchel Chelsea talks

Everton have suffered a blow in their hopes of landing Conor Gallagher this summer after the midfielder confirmed he will be staying at Chelsea this season following talks with Thomas Tuchel.

Gallagher has been one name continually linked with a move to the Blues so far this summer. The England international has previously worked with Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old has spent the last three seasons on loan with Swansea City, West Brom and, most recently, Crystal Palace. Gallagher enjoyed a positive campaign at Selhurst Park last season, making 39 appearances in all competitions.

Gallagher scored eight goals and registered three assists in the Premier League, and his impressive displays earned him a nomination for the Men’s PFA Young Player of the Year award, while he was also awarded the Eagles' fans' Player of the season prize.

The midfielder is currently away in the US with the Chelsea squad, and when asked about his future following a training session in Orlando, Gallagher revealed that he will be staying at Stamford Bridge following talks with Tuchel, in which the German informed him he was good enough to play for his side.

“It has been good and obviously back at Chelsea, I have got to try and impress and show what I can do, but yeah, so far, so good,” he told Sky Sports.

“I loved the Palace fans as well, I just wanted to say that. I loved playing there last season, but I feel like I’m ready to make the step up for Chelsea this season.

“The boss here has said he wants me around and he thinks I’m good enough. Hopefully I can play a big part this season for Chelsea.”
