Everton star Richarlison receives FA charge after Chelsea smoke bomb incident

Richarlison has received a charge from the FA after an incident involving a smoke bomb during Everton's win over Chelsea last month.

The Blues secured a crucial victory at the beginning of May at Goodison Park thanks to a goal early in the second half from the Brazil international. The atmosphere outside the ground had been electric, with fans gathering in large numbers outside the ground to welcome the coach to Goodison Park.

Flags, banners and smoke bombs were prevalent outside the stadium as the players were given huge incentive to perform ahead of the game. And that continued into the match itself, with numerous smoke bombs being thrown onto the field of play shortly after Everton's winning goal.

Richarlison quickly interacted with one, picking it up as he celebrated and throwing it over an empty section of the stadium, seemingly attempting to throw it out of the ground underneath the big screen where there are no fans situated.

However, the forward has now received a charge from the FA for the incident after it was alleged he breached rule E3. He will have a week to respond to the charge.

Richarlison is currently away on international duty with Brazil following the end of the 2022/23 campaign. This news follows Frank Lampard being fined £30,000 by the organisation for his comments following the Merseyside Derby at Anfield.
