Everton set for double boost as Burnley manager gives injury update

Your Everton morning headlines for Monday, April 18

Frank Lampard set for double Everton boost against Leicester City

Everton are set to be handed a double boost ahead of the club's important game with Leicester City on Wednesday.

Ahead of the match, Frank Lampard is expected to have two players back in contention for his starting line up. Lampard had previously earmarked Wednesday's game as the possible return date for Yerry Mina.

The centre back has struggled with injuries this season and has been missed while out of action. Speaking ahead of Everton's victory over Manchester United Lampard was hopeful the centre back would be available for the April 20 tie at Goodison Park.

And pictures from Finch Farm, released by the club on Friday, showed the Colombia international enjoying himself as he joined the first team in training, suggesting his return could still be on the cards.

Burnley manager gives Ashley Westwood update after horror injury amid relegation battle

Burnley star Ashley Westwood was taken to hospital after suffering what appeared to be an horrific injury at West Ham this afternoon.

Caretaker boss Mike Jackson said he is "just hoping he is OK" after the 1-1 draw, which moved his side three points behind Everton. The Clarets led for much of the game and missed a penalty but Jackson still hailed the outcome as a "terrific result".

Jackson took over after the shock dismissal of long-term manager Sean Dyche this week. Burnley, Everton's biggest threat in the battle for Premier League survival, looked set to close to within one point of Everton for much of their game on Sunday. But after Wout Weghorst gave them the lead Maxwel Cornet missed a penalty and Tomas Soucek later levelled for the hosts.

Jackson concluded the result was a "good point" and said he now had his "fingers crossed" Westwood's injury was not as bad as feared.
